Manuka Honey

At last night's guild meeting there was mention about Manuka honey not being safe to eat.  After some super quick Internet research on the subject (some members of the guild grew up eating Manuka honey) this type of honey is known to have a high level of methylglyoxal (MGO) which if taken in large doses or in concentrated form is not good for the human body. The levels of MGO in Manuka honey varies from very low to  very high.   So I believe (I'm no chemist) that eating manuka honey is fine but not to be confused with the MGO honey made to be used as an ointment.
