Bee Memorial - Only in California

Some idiot killed several hive in an urban garden near San Francisco.  They sprayed the hives with some type of pesticide making sure not only to kill all the bees but contaminate the boxes.  Today the newspaper reported that bee keepers held a memorial and burial for the fall bees.  At first I thought how silly but from a public relations view point, it was a good move.
Hopefully more people will be made aware of the need for honey bees and what they do for our food supply. Here's the link to the article. newspaper article
