This is what we call a "bee removal"

With the warm weather, the guild is getting more calls for swarm pick ups. Lothar sent these photos from what would be a "bee removal" I know the home owners called several people on the swarm list but only Lothar was up to checking it out since the bees have been in the chimney for awhile.

Martha Stewart's Bee Hives

Even Big Martha has bee hives at her house. She posted on her blog about adding packaged bees to her hives that had a hard winter. Here's the link if you want to see all the pictures.

Warm Weather = Swarms

With the weather warming up more calls about swarms will be coming in. Remember when you go out to capture a swarm you are representing our Guild. Part of capturing a swarm is to also educate the home owner about what you are doing and the importance of bees. If you find the capture is more than you can handle, contact one of the more experienced members in the Guild. It has been suggested that before you are put on the swarm list, you have been on a few "ride along" before going solely. Also along with the swarms, our extractors are in high demand. Please make sure you have them clean and ready to go as soon as you are done with them so there is no delay in getting it to the next person.
